I Am Somebody by Lisa Jenkins

Does it matter so much to you,
what shapes the words I speak?
The silences I show this world
tell more of who I am.

The why, the where, the when and how
are nothing more than sound.
The noise shatters and I am heard;
I am somebody, found.

a poem in response to Emily Dickinson's I'm Nobody, Who Are You?
